Bydgoszcz Industrial Cluster has become a partner of an international project, whose members are UTP University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz, ML sp. z o.o. and Technische Universität Chemnitz.

The Project entitled Development of a technology for new polymeric compositions with recycled tires rubber and new products designing is realized within the EUREKA Initiative.

The aim of the Project is the management of rubber waste from used car tyres in the form of a filler in polymer compositions. The waste which has been ground into a rubber powder of an average grain size less than 0,5 mm is combined with thermoplastic by injection moulding and with the porous polyurethane by vacuum casting. The composition of a newly created material will undertake optimization from the point of view of its share in the composition, mechanical properties, contents and the migration of the polycyclic aromatic compounds ( i.e. PAH – polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons).

The Project will effect in the prototype of a product of mass application designed to strengthen loose soils and to limit the areas of self-sowing plants. The product will be manufactured from the material that contains a large quantity of tyre rubber powder (assumed min. 50 per cent of the composition mass) with maintaining the acceptable PAH content.

Duration of the Project: 1.05.2019 – 31.07.2021

Total value of the Project: 1 049 750 PLN, including the funding of 839 850 PLN.
